I really want to get married at some point in my life. Maybe he's not the one for me. What do you think about guys that say they don't believe in marriage?

  1. Sounds like this is something you should have addressed on the third or fourth date.  Its a bit late now.

  2. Tell him to get someone else and you get someone who is willing to committ.  You deserve it.

  3. I wish mine didn't.

But anyhoo. I'm of no help since I don't believe in marriage. It really is useless. A ring and a paper?

May as well make a mock ceremony. Get your daughter to draw up your marriage licence, buy some rings and exchange them. Sign the "license" and kiss.

That's about all that marriage will do for you anyways.

Why mess up a good thing? IMO You're making something out of nothing

  4. you'll probably just not get married ever! my aunt has had a boyfriend from when she was 16 until now, shes 58! if you have a daughter i say stick it out until a more serious problem arrives!!! GOOD LUCK

  5. They is an old saying that goes something like "why buy a cow if you can get milk for free".

There is not need for him to commit to marriage if he is already being provide with all the benefits of marriage.

If you really want to get marry then you need to become marriage material and find a guy who want to be committed to you.

  6. this is something that should have been discussed 11 years ago.  unfortunately, you will not get those 11 years of your life back.  at this point, he is of the opinion of "why buy the cow when he can get the milk for free".  if you and he split up, you will get child support for his daughter, but besides that, you will not get squat from him.  no assets, no nothing.  who will not have access to his benefits, or be considered "next of kin" if anything happens to him.  who says marriage is just a piece of paper.  you failed to heed the signs here.  heck, there were no signs as he told you to your face that he doesn't believe in marriage.  if you weren't cool with that, you should have bailed.  you and he need to have a frank discussion.  if you don't see any movement 2 months after the discussion, have another discussion...where you are discussing you leaving.

  7. After eleven years with a child, there's nothing different other than the paperwork so to speak.  He doesn't have you or the child's best interest at heart. He's worried about losing his freedom.  I'm sorry about that. He needs to grow up.

  8. It is possible to live a perfect and full life together without marriage. See this list, how many problems are between married couples. They are just spying of each other. If you live a stable and calm live now then be happy with is and do not want to destroy it with a marriage.

  9. I think that, after 11 years, it might be time to believe him!

What on earth would make you think he was lying to you?  He's been up front with you, but still you kept hoping . . . big mistake, if what you want to be is a Mrs.

If you want to be married, he isn't the one.  Decide just how much you want to be married, and go from there.

  10. A bit like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted don't you think,C'mon after 11yrs you just realised you wan't to get married, and he doesn't........

  11. I think they are full of c**p and they just have not met the woman they want to marry.  I think it usually means they want to keep their options open and are still looking for THE one and you are not it.

There are the rare 'idealist hippie' types that really don't believe in it.

But if you man believes in God he must believe in marriage.  I can understand the view of not legally getting married but only getting married in church.

  12. You believe in marriage yet had a daughter before you were married? not trying to be mean but if it was important to you maybe finding out his feelings before the baby would have been a good idea. Why do you want to get married? If you're happy then keep doing what your doing if you're not then change it.

  13. I think these guys believe in marriage, they just haven't found the one they want to marry.  Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.
