The blades can turn almost 180 deg.

All it does is hummmmmm

I have a GE model so there's no allen wrench for it

What else can I do to loosen ot or fix it?

I have a general electric model # gfc520f

  1. call someone or mabye see if something is stuck in there, this has happened to me and I found a spoon in it.

  2. Make your wife take out the garbage.

  3. get under there an take apart the "elbow" take apart all the pipes you can see theres a clog in there. mine was humming and thats what i did . clogged pipes.

  4. Garbage disposals are not that expensive....$100-$130 for good Insinkerator Badger V (contractor grade model) and are fairly easy to install...( read the instructions & be sure to use plumbers putty on the sink strainer flange). Way easier than searching for parts & trying to repair.

  5. you need a new mot er the bearings sound like thy are worn out and spinning

  6. Umm wellll in my experience you have to dig down in there and get all the junk out then you could get an allen wrench of your own or look at the bottom of it an use whatever tool it requires then wrench it out. Other than that if it were me I'd try to take it off the sink and take it apart if you can't fix it while it's attached. Sorry about your garbage desposal problem. Lol, I know how that goes. Try callin' a GE repair center in your town. If you contact GE they'll usually give you the repair center in your town or they might have some sort of tech help at the toll free number

    Jesus is awesome!

  7. I think the hmmmmmmmmmmmm means the motor is still good but blocked. When it is off (MAKE SURE IT IS OFF) feel around in the bottom to make sure there is nothing stuck in there. On mine the littlest things will jam it. I have taken a crow bar and braced it on the bottom of the disposal and hit it really hard with a hammer to get it unstuck. I would also flush it with a lot of water. Good luck!

  8. buy a new one

  9. Take a wooden handle on a hammer or anything and stick it down inside and see if you can get it to release....try and spin it both ways.it may kick up last nights china:)
