I have a camcorder that records on a mini tape. How can I burn a dvd by using my dvd recorder?

I have a dvd recorder and I want to connect my camcorder to my dvd recorder and burn a dvd. I dont have my dvd recorder connected to my t.v. My camcorder has a dv output and s-video output, so does my dvd recorder

  1. Ad Tom - you should read more carefully - his camera made MINI TAPE and he wants to burn DVD.

    As for the answer - miniDV port might not always work with direct DVD recorder. Plus, the recorder would have to be able to do on-the-fly compression from full miniDV format, which is BIG format (A lots of data). It is worth to try if you do have the FireWire cable. But you might get similar quality and MAYBE less hassle just to connect the cam via S-Video port with S-Video cable. Then just play the tape and record like you would record from tv. It is simple enough.

  4. Connect the DV sockets - you'll probably need a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable.  The camcorder will need to be set to play, but I don't know how your DVD recorder is controlled.
