I have a camcorder with bad audio so I want to use an external recorder and insert the audio later ?

I have a camcorder with bad audio so I want to use an external recorder and insert the audio later but I cant find a good recorder any suggestions Its has to have a mich input and a headphone jack.

maybe you just need to buy a better mic for the camcorder most of the new cameras have the mic input for better sound just ger a mic from frys or best buy
