For analog TV systems it is common to find an RF Modulator that will convert A/V output to channel 3 or 4. I want to be able to do the same on a digital system. I want to be able to see the camera's output on any TV on the system, say, at channel 35.1. Is there such a device.?

  1. Another possible option is to get a professional "frequency agile" modulator that would convert your A/V out to any analog channel you want.  Yes, it would not be digital, but this way you could select any open cable channel for the camera output:

  2. Granted, I work with professional equipment, but I don't know how to do this for under about $60K.

To make a digital TV signal, you must run the video through an encoder.  That will digitize the video (if it isn't already), cut it into packets and assign packet ID (PID) numbers to the packets.  This stream would then be sent to a multiplexer (mux) that would add the higher level tables to the signal and assign the digital channel number.  Then you would have a digital stream ready for a digital modulator (8-VSB or 256QAM).

If you can find bargain basement encoders and muxs, go for it.

    I hope this helps.
