I have a canadian passport, so do i still need to take TOFELS for a boarding school in canada?

english was my first language, im a BC resident and im applying for a BCstate boarding school but i live in hong kong

so am i still considered as a BC resident? but im a permanent resident...i dont have to take TOFELS or SATS rite?

  1. Passport ownership is not an indicator of language proficiency.

    What you need is to show that you are capable of conversing and understanding the language of instruction.  Usually, that can be done by showing that your current studies in HK are conducted in English, or that you pass a profficiency test.  Contact the school what their preference is, and also which tests (in addition to TOEFL) they will accept.

    If your language skills are not at the level of being able to understand the courses, they will require you attend additional language courses. This is not a big deal, you likely will want that anyway, in order to succeed at your chosen school.

    Addendum (after your addendum): if the language of instruction at the International School in HK is English, then that may be sufficient.  To be 100% sure, ask the target school, ultimately they will make that decision, though in your case you may be fine as is.
