I have tried finalizing the discs on the camcorder itself but it will not let me finalize them. They are JVC DVD-RW mini discs and they play fine on the camcorder itself so why not the pc or the dvd player?

  1. no that is not always correct. you need the software and need to install the latest version or take it back okay!!

  2. You can't finalize the DVD-RW, it's just not possible. Download a dvd converter, like handbrake and see if that works.

With reg mini DVD's you do need to finalize the disk.

If you have a mini dvd camcorder….

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.

  3. You have to finalise them or they won't work on another device.

Also, does your dvd or pc only play DVD+.

Have you tried non re-writtable discs? - But you have to finalise the disc, as I said. There must be trouble-shooting advice in the instruction booklet.

    What model is it?

Maybe you have corrupt discs - I've had a whole pack of corrupt blank dvds.

You will probably find that you can only finalise discs when the mains adapter is conected to the camera - this is to ensure that the finalisation process isn't disrupted.

    Hope this works.
