Question:

I have a canon zr800 camcorder, and want to put the video footage i have recorded onto my computer. does?

anybody know how i go about doing this? it didnt come with any cables to hook to the computer, just a charger and the AV cables to hook to the television. what cables do i need to order in order to do this? or what do i need to do?

  1. This is a minidv camcorder,

    If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

    Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode.

    The fine print in your manual makes reference to firewire (ieee 1394) connection.


  2. I don't know what your camcorder looks like but you can either get cables which you can connect directly to your pc or you can get a video creator which you can connect to any video device which will help you to transfer data from the camcorder to your pc. I hope this has been helpful.
