My cat, who I am close to runs under the table when my boyfriend comes over and stays there. But lately she has been coming out little by little. She walks into the living room and watches him then runs back. Then another day she comes out a little more. What does all this mean? Was she just afraid of his smell but now wants to get to know him?

  1. Cats are sensitive and social. They love to be loved and can tell if someone likes them or not. I would think both the cat and your boyfriend are beginning to know one-another and that is why she is coming out more.

Soon she will be his friend!

    Good luck!!

  2. Cats are VERY INTUITIVE!

There is something about your bF that she doesn't trust.  Does he smell like a dog?

Has he TRIED TO GET TO KNOW HER? OR? just ignored her.

How does he feel about her?

    THE EVIDENCE IS MOUNTING!

  3. How much do you know about your boyfriend? Animals are a very good sense of character.  Don't just dismiss your cats behavior.  On the other hand cats can be very skittish at times just because they're cats, or she may be just feeling him out.  PS you didn't say how long this has been going on either!

  4. you are just going to have to let your cat get used to him.

    it might take some time.

    but don't worry.

sooner or later the cat wont be afraid of him any more.

  5. That's nothing unusual if she hasn't seen him before. She's afraid but curious, common for cats.If your boyfriend isn't rude with your cat,if he's patient enough and doesn't do harsh movements--they'll become friends.Cats don't like when something changes in their habitual life or new people appear and they need time to get used to it.

  6. Does he talk loudly?? as sometimes that can frighten a cat. I have two cats who are a little afraid of my Son when he visits as he is so loud where as Females are softer and not so loud.
