This motor was part of a transmitter for a Hunter remote ceiling fan. New Hunter transmitters are no longer available. I have a new universal remote/transmitter with black/white wires only. Can anyone help?

  1. In America (ignore if elsewhere), Green or bare copper is your ground wire.  Grey and White are neutral wires.  Black and other colors are hot wires.

The hot wires are the ones you will want to interrupt with the receiver unit (should have input/output labelled).  Connect all neutral wires to each other, and connect all ground wires to each other.

Connect your controller to the hot wires, in series, between the fan and ceiling box.  The receiver should be labelled for connections, if it is not I suggest referring to an online diagram (search for your model number).

Without extra details, such as the color wires you have, and labeling on the receiver, I don't want to give incorrect instructions.  Hopefully that information helped.
