“I have a chance to win a medal,” says Parupalli Kashyap – London Olympics Update

Prime Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap will represent the country in Men’s Singles event of London Olympics and he is in high spirits to rise and shine in the mega event, set to be held from July 27, 2012.
World Number 22 player has literally earned this honour as he has been proving his class in the arena for last couple of months.
Now he is positive to utilise this valuable experience in coming edition of Olympics and claimed that he stands a fair chance to wear a medal around his neck.
Kashyap scaled down the toughness of this task by stating that he just needs one or two crucial victories against strong contenders and then there will not be any hurdle in his race for glory.
He said, "I will go to London thinking it to be an opportunity to play another tournament. I have a chance. If I can manage one or two upsets, I have a chance to win a medal."
Kashyap has gone through a tense qualification period in which he was locked in an edgy battle with compatriot shuttler Ajay Jayaram.
The one with better world rankings was supposed to have the honour of playing in this most prestigious badminton event.
World Number 26 Ajay Jayaram had better odds but things went in Kashyap’s favour dramatically in 2012 India Open and he managed to elevate his status before the closing of Olympic qualification period.
The 25-year-old campaigner looked relaxed as he briefed that nerve-racking phase pushed him to make every effort which surely will be a great help in the London Games.
He said, "I have gone through a range of emotions in the last one year. It was tough. But after qualifying, I was relaxed and it gave me time to think about my game."
In this season, Kashyap has proved himself a world beater as he outclassed masters like Chen Long and Hans Kristian Vittinghus en-route to the semi-finals of Indonesia Open.
He also registered his mark by making into second last round of India Open and now he is fully charged to raise country’s flag in 2012 London Olympics.
