Anything in the red color family looks great.  That means any shade of pink, red, burgundy.  Also light blues are contemporary and look good.

Dark borwn furniture is back and there are lots of deep purples around right now so you'll be able to pick up some lovely cushions in silks and velvets and a throw to place on your bed.  Try Next online!

red goes wonderfully with brown, like some beautiful crimson candles / cushions / lamp etc....... hope that helps, but not much of an interiors designer :P

You could use a medium blue and a yellow. Candles and paintings are a great way to bring this in. Also fabrics can bring these in nicely. Other colors that also go with chocolate brown are a turquoise blue and also a bubblegum pink. good luck =]

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes.
