My car starts as normal, after driving it for about 30min.... parked the car... went away for about an hour, came back to find that my car cannot start... it cranks but will not start...an hour later tryed again and it started !!!!.... went to the dealer and they told me that i need a new crank position sensor and secondary air pump... both would cost me $3500 including labour (mercedes part). A friend told me that the air pump is not faulty and that it might be just the crank sensor...

can some one please help me with information about the crank sensor and can really be lated to a faulty air pump

  1. the dealers are usually inexperienced with crossfire. i am a master chrysler tech and don't work on them enough to know everything about them but without the trouble codes i couldnt tell you exactly what was wrong with your car and why the pump is related but the crank sensor is likely the fault. the part # is 5080352AA and only cost 214.00, labor shouldn't be more than a few hours,. the air pump is used to add air at start ups to pass emissions. i would have the dealer replace the crank sensor and go from there .
