  1. try a whip and a stool

  2. I'd cut and shape it while still young! if you leave it too long, it might like some conifer's do, and look dead underneath, but if you start when it young, you'll have more chance with it, Good luck

  3. The only thing I have seen is , training the bush by the use of gardeners wire . You wrap the wire round the bush to the shape you want , then gently thread the branches round it and tie with gardeners string  .Once it starts to look a bit like a spiral snip away the branches that are not needed . Snip every week until you get the desired shape  if you can prefect this you will save yourself loads of money because they are very expensive to buy .good luck

  4. bit by bit wind it around a pole next to conifer, when its grown to desired hieght pull out pole through middle of tree

  5. There are certain types of trees this works for better than others (Dwarf spruce) but here are the instructions... personally I would buy one that is already spiraled.  But here goes.

Tie a string, rope or ribbon to the top of the tree.  Spiral the ribbon around the outside branches keeping even distance (similar to stringing Christmas lights).  Using the rope as a guide, trim away the branches (at the trunk) that touch the ribbon.  Remove the ribbon and continue to perfect the spiral.  Trim annually to maintain shape.

  6. Let it grow wild and then cut away everything that doesn't look like a corkscrew.  (Sorry, couldn't resist)  Hope you get a real answer.
