  1. ~ Hi ~ ! I'm sorry about your sore throat. I am very susceptible to Strep, so I relate to the throat pain.

    Some things to consider are:

    - Have you been exposed to Strep? Usually, to get Strep you have to have been exposed to it. Though I do realize there are times we come in contact with people that have it and we don't even realize they have it.

    - The other thing is viral infections can cause the same kind, if not WORSE pain then Strep does. So, it could be viral, which if that is the case it just needs to run its course.

    - Strep is nothing to mess around with. Check your throat with a flashlight (or have someone else do it). Generally, with Strep you will see white spots on the back of of your throat and your can't miss them. Also, you tend to run a temperature - low grade to higher.

    - If you are at all suspicious what you have is strep then you do need a throat culture. Since untreated strep can become very serious, it's important to rule out strep.

I hope this helps and you feel better soon.
