I have a couch that is a few years old and in need of a good deep cleaning. What works?

  1. The first most important thing is to vacuum your sofa very well to remove all dust.  Use a shampooer with recommended cleaning agent to do the actual cleaning.  Use a pretreating spray for difficult stains and I don't recommend anything with suds as the residue will attract dirt after it is dry.  There are many steam cleaners with a no suds cleaning solution, like resolve.  Good luck.


  2. After vacuuming it well give it a good shampooing and let it dry in the sunshine.

  3. I use the upholstery attachment on my rug shampoo machine.  Then I either take the cushions out in the sunshine to finish drying or tumble them in the dryer for a bit.

    It helps to deal with spots as they occur and to vacuum your upholstered furniture regularly!
