I have a counter-top gas stove - one valve is difficult to operate- requires more force than others?

Is it proper to lubricate this valve with WD-40 or should it be left as is or disassembled and cleaned? Keep in mind that the valve is probably 45 years old. Other wise the stove works just fine.

  1. The valve needs proper lubrication, go ahead and use a straw on the WD-40 and shoot some in the stem area.  Work it a little bid and that should free the stiffness.

  2. My company used "stop c**k grease" in older stoves.  I wouldn't use the wd-40 on it.  It might start leaking.
