What's the best way to learn it? Also I gamble but usually gamble against the house. Do players ever get mad and start fights with you for taking their money?

  1. I don't know that there's one "best" way to learn the game.

If you're the type that learns best by doing, any of the free on-line sites (Full Tilt, Poker Stars, etc) have play money games that you can practice on.   The major problem with those sites is that, because they're free, anyone can get on and they're not necessarily playing in a fashion that will be conducive to your learning the game.   After all, there's no money involved so there's no incentive to play correctly.

Another way to learn the game is to read any number of books that have been written by the pros.  Doyle Brunson's books are considered the "bible" of Texas Hold-Em poker.   You can take the book knowledge and apply it to either on-line games or live table games.

Yet another way to learn is to go to a casino that offers lessons in the game.    This will, of course, be a very basic overview of the game without a whole lot of strategy instruction, but it's enough to get you going on the rules and procedures of the game.

As to the second part of your question, I've never seen anyone get mad at me for taking their money.   They may get mad because they lost, especially if they lose on the last card or something, but they'll usually blame the dealer, the casino, their rotten luck, etc. and not their opponent.

  2. Best way to learn is play the "Play Money, Practice" games before playing for real money. Also there are some good websites and books but you really need to play to learn I think.

Yeah some people get mad sometimes and call you names if they lose. They also call you names if they don't like your style of play, but I think most people are fairly mature about it and understand it's a game and we're all playing to win.

Check out PKR, it's awesome. It has 3D graphics and emotes, it's amazing.

  3. pokerstars.com

    ultimatebet.com

    Both offer free game play

  4. You can learn by playing. You can play poker legally on http://www.spadeclub.com. It is sponsored by cardplayer magazine and if you use the code ACESFULL you can get a two week free trial. It pays real cash prizes when you win. They base it on sweepstakes laws.

  5. Yes, the best way to learn to play is play on some of the sites with play money, absolutely free and when you learn it and decide to play with real money you just need to deposit.

The best online poker site is fulltilt, you can find a full review of the site at http://www.bettingwise.hit.bg/FulltiltPo...

  6. Sounds stupid, but i got ok by playing out six hands by myself. After a while you will get fast at reading the flop, turn and river and get an idea on odds and what chance certain hands have. One of the first things i noticed was that with six hands, 99% of the time one of the hands will be suited up.

I have seen people get mat if they have bullets and lose to something like trip 2, but no fights.

  7. Read a book 1st - get an understanding of the game and start fresh...

The problem I have with online gaming like you can get on Pokerstars or Fulltilt (and I play on both) is that you have so many morons that will throw all in with a J-5 offsuit and when they lose they say "well they are just fake chips".. It ruins it for the guy that really wants to learn...

I've never seen a fight because of a taking - but I have seen a couple when players are accused of cheating or playing as "partners"... and rightfully so...
