I have a couple questions about high school basketball.....?

1. When is the season?

2. I'm 6'2" and a 10th grade girl so will they put that into consideration?

3. How can I prepare for tryouts? like what kind of workouts and stuff? I need to improve my stamina.

  2. In most states, basketball is a winter sport, so tryouts are in November.  Coaches often say that you cannot teach height, so you will get a long look in tryouts.  Introduce yourself to the coaches this fall and ask for their advice on training.  

    Working on endurance in pre-season is important, as well as working on your shot.

    Even if you make the team, but play little in games this year, the coaches will want to make an investment in you for the future, so be patient, work hard and do what the coaches want you to do.

  4. 1. The season is normally in the winter. January, February, etc.

    2. Yes, they will take your height into consideration. But this is high school, not middle school. Your height alone will not get you on the team. You need to brush up on your skills. You need to be talented.

    3. Jog around, do highknees. Also, practice your ballhandling. You could get stuck bringing the ball down the court and most post players in high school are absolutely awful at ballhandling. Do some leg lifts. That will give more strength for when you are jumping for rebounds and boxing out.

    Do some moderate, but long running. Nothing too hard. Just a soft jog. But do long soft jogs. That will help you get better conditioned.

    And just be confident in yourself. At 6'2", you have that giant advantage. If you don't know already, learn how to use that advantage.
