  1. I doubt it.

  2. As of now, Japanese Immigration office doesn't care about criminal record for American to enter using travel visa to Japan if you have original valid passport with biometric fingerprinting as far as you are not wanted.

  3. Check with the closest Embassy of Japan near you, but according to these excerpts of the Denial of Landing law you will NOT be allowed into the country(by the way, there is no mention whatsoever of any time period that must elapse before being granted approval for landing in Japan, so the 10 years a poster mentioned is incorrect):

    (Denial of Landing)

    Article 5.

Any alien who falls under any one of the following items shall be denied permission for landing in Japan:

    (4) A person who has been convicted of a violation of any law or regulation of Japan, or of any other country, and has been sentenced to imprisonment with or without labor for 1 year or more, or to an equivalent penalty except for those convicted of a political offense.

    (5) A person who has been convicted of a violation of any law or regulation of Japan or of any other country relating to the control of narcotics, marijuana, opium, stimulants or psychotropic substances and sentenced to a penalty.

  4. You might want to check with the US Embassy, and then the Japan embassy. I will say though that even if they let you in, chances are great that you'll be stopped and thoroughly questioned at Japanese immigration since they are very peculiar as to whom is entering their country.

  5. When was your criminal record issue?

Over ten years passed, you can travel freely in Japan.

  6. Ooh, are you serious. If I were you I'd contact the US embassy in Japan and ask them. If you were just a tourist it ***might*** be okay.
