  1. To the first answer, S.M. -- I live in west Michigan and we had near record snowfall this winter. You can't judge the extent of global warming's effects based on season-to-season weather patterns; it's about decades of climatological data and many other factors.

If you want a grounded view of the matter without the sensationalism, hyperbole, and political agenda, please visit one of the links below. (They're both the same article.)

  5. Something is going on with our climate and it's noticeable year to year. Are we causing it? Don't know. But I like to err on the side of caution, to a point, of course.

The real questions to ask, though, are:

    1) Is there any reason not to pursue alternatives given the very finite and diminishing nature of fossil fuels? Especially if concurrently active businesses are profiting on private-sector sales.

    2) Is there a significant motive in defrauding the U.S. on a billion dollar issue given the trillion dollar issue to calm a region vital to economies of the globe?

    3) Would those trillions be necessary if either a) the region were already stable and b) it had no more economic significance than, say, Burundi?

    Just some thoughts.

    ...

  6. The facts are to many. Humans have cut down half of the forest, destroyed half the grasslands, drained half the wetlands and burn 10 million barrels of oil per plus coal, and Natural gas. If you want to know more go to CoolingEarth.org where you can learn we can clean up our messes.

  7. I live in Northern Michigan. When my dad was a kid, it was normal to have snow days where the snow blocked your front door. Last year, we didn't get snow until New Years, and it was gone by March. Plus, when you think of all the c**p humans throw away, how can anyone DENY that we need a better solution to clean up after ourselves?

  8. My approach to global warming would be the better safe than sorry approach.  Being earth conscious only helps, never hurts. You might wanna check out Leonardo DiCaprio's movie "the 11th Hour", I bought it at Wal-Mart for $5. It's filled with facts and solutions. The YouTube website has tons of opinions for & against that would definitely help. Good luck.

  9. I can't stay quiet any longer about the politics of this land.  I have been contacting my senators and congressman about a couple of issues, and they were very glad to hear from me.  Here are the 2 issues:

    1.  The senate is voting soon on the Supplemental Spending Bill for the Iraq War, and Diane Feinstein put in an amendment to grant amnesty to 1 million ILLEGAL immigrants because the produce is not getting picked in time.  Our economy is in so much trouble, and there are lots of LEGAL citizens that need the money and would be willing to work in agriculture.  There are plenty of youth that need good, hard-working jobs to earn them the money they need for college, cars, etc.  Feinstein's amendment is very inappropriate.  Once you start the amnesty policy, there will be no end.  I just saw a presentation on how excessive immigration will undo our country in many ways...too far to mention.

    2.  Our country has lots of oil reserves in many states and out in the surrounding oceans.  We have the technology to drill for it in a responsible way to conserve the environment.  The Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah have oil shale that can be successfully developed for oil, and the Energy Policy of 2005 directed the BLM to lease these lands to those willing to develop the shale oil.  Now a moratorium was imposed as part of the Consolidated Appropriation Act of 2008 to NOT allow the BLM to lease land for shale oil development.

It is my opinion that we should be calling our representatives and letting them know we will not vote for them if they don't allow us to glean our own oil resources in our own land and help our own people and our economy.  To go begging to Saudi Arabia for more oil is humiliating and unnecessary.  This is the biggest transfer of wealth in the history of the world to take our money by the billions and give it to countries that are not friendly to us and then prohibit our own people from providing for themselves.

I have sent this out to many in different states.  If we each do our part, and spread the word, something can be done about this situation.  We the people are still in charge if we will take the responsibility.  I had a very good experience calling my representatives, both Republican and Democrat.  Their phone numbers were in the phone directory.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you will take action.

  10. Take a look at this article:

    Quite interesting....

  11. There are MANY sides to global warming

I like to look at all the different sides

and have an open mind to learning.

One, the obvious side to the issue is that it IS real, and we are the ones causing it.

The other is that maybe we arent the ones causing it, but rather it is just another one of Earths natural occurences.

The other is that global warming is not caused by us and that the Earth isnt causing the change itself.

Most of us humans KNOW that the Earth's is warming somehow, and there is carbon dioxide in the air as well as other greenhouse gases, but we are just split between

    are we doing this

    is the Earth

or is it an unknown source?
