I have a deep cavity which filling is better

i have a deep cavity and want too know wat kind of filling is better

my dentist told me that the white fillings are better but i dont know if she telling the truth cuz all she does is keeps talking about the price and saying she'll giv me a discount and in the end didnt O_O

i ask another dentist and she said it doesnt matter and said that the metal ones last longer and the white ones dont so i dont kno which ones i shoud get

If the cavity is deep, then it's probably large and definitely needs a silver filling. The silver fillings are much stronger and have a lifespan of 25+ years. The tooth colored fillings are made of plastic and will shrink over time, in which case they will need replaced. They are also much weaker than a silver filling, and only have a lifespan of 5-7 years.

The silver filling would be the way to go in this case, and it sounds like the first dentist is just trying to make money and may be a little unethical. Of course she wants everyone to get tooth colored fillings because then she can charge them again when they need replaced a few years down the road!
