I have a deep voice.?

I'm afraid that it would affect mic skills and singing ect.

Will it die down as I get older.

I am a 14 year - old boy.

What I want to know is that will it soften up as I get older or just get more deeper because if I was ever on the microphone, I think it would not sound as good.

  1. I've always had a very deep, rich, resonant voice, and experience tells me that it is indeed a great asset.  Learn to use it indeed.  Audiences love it.  They always give a little extra belief to a deep voice.  There is nothing like a deep voice to capture the musicality in Shakespeare.  It can 'age' you if you want it to.  Technology is so good anymore that they just adjust it to you as far as mics and stuff go.  Believe me, you will be very glad to are lucky enough to have a good voice as an actor.

  2. Where would James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader, be without that beautiful deep voice? Learn to use it, it is a great assest.

  3. Everyone's vocal chords develop differently, so there's no definite way to tell.  However, the general biological trend is your pitch will lower as you hit puberty.  That's not a bad thing though!

I myself was in concert choir during my high school years.  I have a pretty deep voice, and when I auditioned, I was placed as a beratone-bass.  However, I ended up becoming the Tenor Section Leader!  With repeated and sustained practice and vocal exercises, you can increase your vocal range widely; throughout my one year in Concert Choir, I gained a range of a whole octave upward!  And plus, some people naturally have a wide range; look at Josh Groban, he could sing anywhere from bass to soprano without going falsetto and still retain a very distinct and strong timbre!

So don't worry about your voice getting deeper, it shouldn't affect your singing; in fact, it could actually help!
