my friend said that it doesn't make a difference. Now the main wireless connection (box) is downstairs at a different apartment. My desktop didn't have the software downloaded, we had to call the cable company and had to get this account number and this password and other software. We have a bet on this. Which one of us is right?

  1. they are the same

ALL 11 [eleven] of my wireless computers are equally fast and strong. Some have built-in wifi, others use adapters.

All of them are happy and strong. Even on the patio!

  2. Generally internal cards are faster because they don't have to go through the USB port, which from my experience tends to slow them down. So the laptop is stronger.

    Hope I help,

  3. The USB might slow it down a bit, but it is negligible. The only thing that makes a significant difference in wireless speed is the specification, such as 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n. "b" is the oldest and slowest specification, "g" is the most common one with average speed, and "n" is the extremely new one with much better speed. I'm betting both the stick and the internal card are "g."
