Question:

I have a digital camcorder as well as a digital camera and I know that one or the other can be a webcam...?

I have tried many different drivers, but all of them say something to the effect of "cannot connect the device" or they tell me that I don't have a video capturing device.

Someone told me yesterday that he has the same camcorder as I do and he showed me the driver that he downloaded, but that still didn't work for me.

Does anybody know how I can get either the camcorder or camera to work? The quality of the video doesn't matter to me, etc...and I can't get a webcam itself.

Both of these devices hook up to my computer via USB (not Firewire)...and, since my computer is new (and an HP PC), it currently has Windows Vista on it...now, I am sure that Vista is causing some of the problems (with it's current reputation), but there has to be somebody who has been able to get something like this to work.

Does anybody know what drivers/other software/other ideas that I can use are? Or any suggestions on where to look? I know that there is something, I just can't find it. Thank you.

  1. You did not tell us the manufacturer or model numbers of either camera. We need that information to see if either camera is capable. If either is capable, it would be in the camera's manual.
