I have a digital converter box and can not record on to tape with my old vcr which has an analog tuner,?

would i be able to if i bought a new vcr that had no built in tuner?

  1. Assuming that your old VCR can record analog broadcasts, there is no reason why it can't record the output of your digital converter box:

    If you are using the coax output of the converter, make sure the VCR is set to the output channel of the converter (Antenna channel 3 or 4).

    If you are using the RCA composite outputs, check to see that the color codes on the connectors match, that you are connecting to the VCR's input and not the output, and you have the VCR set to line input.

    You can use your converter box with a new tunerless recorder, but that is no different than connecting your converter to your old VCR's RCA inputs.


  2. If all else fails, you can buy a over the air TV tuner card for your computer and record shows with that.  If you have a new laptop, most likely your laptop will be HD, and you can watch HD channels.
