  1. No, it would be like if you and your father...or you and or mother...you know.  Anyway, when breeding, you should have a breeding mentor.  They can asnwer any questions you have.

  2. Absolutely NO, it would not be safe!

  3. No, it would NOT be safe.

Only those who seriously know the breed, the dogs' lineage, and a GREAT deal about genetics would even attempt something like that, and even then there's no guarantee.  I'm guessing since you have to ask here, you're no genetics expert.  Don't do it.

  4. It would not be safe to breed a b*tch to her sire. There could be genetic defects and all sorts of other things that could go wrong. Just like if a human father had a baby with his daughter (sounds majorly wrong) there are huge amounts of problems that could occur. I would definitely not suggest it.

  5. No, it wouldn't, actually. Any genetic defects that either carries would be apparent in the offspring. In a word, it would be like creating mentally retarded dogs. They would have EXTREME behavioral issues, meaning, unmanageable aggression and high likeliness of several mental disorders. Not only is it unsafe and wrong, its dangerous to both dogs health, especially the female.

  6. no that is to close. The only reason people linebreed is to improve the breed, but you have to be very carefull, you have to know your dogs what each line carries on each side because if your dog has faults they will be extreme faults in their offspring. Also any genetic illnesses both dominant ( illnesses that are present in the dog) and recessive ( illnesses that are carried in your dog) will be extreme.

You need to do a lot more research into this topic- and before you even think about breeding both the mother and father need to be health tested. Also make sure they are genetically tested as well.

  7. What is it with people wanting to make their dogs perform incest?

  8. please don´t. To be honest, it´s against the law unless you are a registered breeder. That´s where the term ¨backyard breeder¨comes from. They aren´t registered and if caught, you can get into a lot of trouble especially if a puppy is sick with something such as parvo. You can actually get sued for vet bills and if the animal dies, then you can get sued for the cost of the puppy also. So, I mean I wouldn´t breed and it seems like you´re "inbreeding" so the chance of illness is more likely.

  9. No it is not safe.  That is inbreeding.

Only a breeder who has fully studied the pedigree of both dogs,.. fully understands all health, genetic, and temperment issues in the pedigree, as well as faults..  and has fully tested both dogs should even consider this breeding..  even then, its still a little "too close for comfort" for most breeders.  There's just too much risk of producing pups with genetic faults or disease.

  10. The short answer - No.

The Long answer - h**l NO. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU? GO AND GET ALL OF YOUR ANIMALS FIXED THIS INSTANT AND STOP BREEDING.

*takes a deep breath* you clearly have no business breeding so please stop any and all attempts at it today before you end up breeding animals that will have to be put down or will not survive long past birth.

  11. No it is not safe. It can cause birth defects or behavioral problems with the puppies.

  12. Nope. That's called line breeding - only professionals who've studied genetics for years should do that, and even then the dogs they breed are distantly related. The pups could turn out with all sort of health, genetic, and behavioral problems.

If you want to be a responsible breeder, then spay the pets you have now (all pets from stores, and around 90% from "breeders" are not breeding quality - dogs that could be breeding quality IE come from reputable breeders also come with a limited contract stating what you must do in order to breed that dog.)

Then find a mentor to show you the ropes. You'll need to know a LOT in order to be successful and have healthy pups. Here:

  13. No!

  14. Safe but not advisable.  also depends on age and health of each dog.

I am giving you my cut and paste answer so you can find this book it does explain line breeding some.   There are some other considerations besides relativeness that are important.. finances are big consideration (after having huge expenses this year I  am sensitive to that aspect of breeding)

Okay you don't know if dog is in heat, how often, or what to do, or you think your dog is pregnant, when its ready to give birth etc etc etc ?

If you are asking this question you MUST read up and have material on hand and if your dog gives birth.  If you are in time sensitive situation  check your library or local bookstore!

This book is a good one.

http://tinyurl.com/5kcnmk If you cannot wait you might be able to get it at barnes and noble locally. There is also a breeding for dummies book Take a look at the books and the information they will provide.  some of the sites that compare like amazon have a review also.

YOU NEED to get educated and FAST as pregnancies are only 63 days and it GOES fast.Build a list of three books and go pick them up locally or order from my site which whatever. If your dog is birthing or just given birth it is not to late as the best books deal with care afterwards of mom and pups.

Just get some material to have on hand! Find a mentor in real life someone that has gone through this before.

  15.   Unless you want to have a whole litter of pups with genetic issues galore, it's not a good idea.

  16. Good answer, paws.  People do it all the time, but it degrades the breed.   It does indeed pass on traits you don't want.  It's not fair to any offspring to take that chance.  Even if your dog does not show any signs of problems, there could be something you can't see that would be passed on with an increased chance of that baby getting it.  If you insist on breeding, find a male with a good lineage, a good example of the breed, within the breed's standards, do your research, check for medical tests (genetic or otherwise) before you breed.

  17. No, it is not at all, you might get ill and deformed puppies, if you have to ask this question then don't even breed at all period!

  18. Absolutely NOT.  Under no circumstances do you EVER breed a pup back to a parent.
