so if you have 529 can and bottles and each of them is worth 5 1/2 cents how much money do you have. (I've been out of school for a while)

  1. 529*5.5 cents=2909.5 cents = almost 30 bucks

  2. You multiply them together, so it's 529 * 5.5 = 2909.5 cents.

    SO

    2909.5 / 100 = 29.095

then you round it to $29.10

ps. Do you really have that many cans/bottles?

  3. Total value = 529*($0.055) = $29.095 = $29.10

  4. First convert 5 1/2 to .055

    Then do 529 X .055 = $29.095

    Then round $29.095 to $29.10

    I hope that helps! ;)

  5. You don't have any money.  You only have 529 cans and bottles worth 5 1/2 cents each.  Sorry, go cash them in and you will have $29.10.

  6. $29.1

  7. With a calculator multiply 529 x 5.5  =  29 dollars and 9 and a half cents, which you should probably round up to 29 dollars and 10 cents.

If you have to do it without a calculator, set it out like a long multiplication sum ignoring the decimal point, then putting it back in at the end like this:

    529

    x 5.5

Always start with the digit at the RHS ie the 5 after the point and multiply along the row, carrying as you go, so the first line will be 2645.  Then put a zero in the RH columnin the row underneath and then start multiplying with the other 5, so you will get 26450.  Add these two together and you will get 29095.  Almost there but you still have to put in the decimal point.  There is one space after the decimal point in the sum, so you need to do the same with the answer, so you get 2909.5.  This is your answer in cents.  To change to dollars, divide by 100, and you get 29 dollars and 9 and a half cents.  I don't know if U.S. currency has half cents.  We haven't had a half pence here in the U.K. for many years.  If not, round it up and you get 29 dollars and 10 cents.

  8. 529 X $.055 = $29.095

  9. not dumb, dumb if you don't ask.

you have 529 cans and bottles

    each is worth 5.5 cents

so 529 multiplied by 5.5 cents is the answer

    529 * 5.5 = 2909 cents = 2909 cents

    100 cent = 1 dollar

    2909/100 = $ 29.09

    Hope that helps
