I have a dvr and the thing is it needs the internet to get the guide for the week. Now the thing is i have a wireless thing that connects from the dvr to the internet but how my internet is on the 3erd floor and my dvr is in the basement it can't connect. I have already tried to use a splitter for the dvr and the internet but didn't work. So do you know what i can do or what kind of splitter to use?

  1. You have two options, you could either plug a cat5 cable directly from your DVR to your router.  The second option is to buy a signal extender.  From what is sounds like, your wireless router is not able to send the signal all the way down to the basement.  You could by a signal extender/amplifier, what this will do is act as a contact point.  The extender/amplifier will take your signal and boost it again so it will go down to your basement.  From there your DVR should now be able to pick up the wireless signal.  Hope this helps!

  2. Probably your Wi-Fi router has a 4-port wired Ethernet switch - check for four identical ports behind it. Maybe you can connect your DVR to your switch using a Cat5 twisted-pair wire... You just have to pass the Ethernet wire together with the cable TV wire, perhaps.
