  1. Do you actually have a quality, always up-to-date and properly configured AntiVirus and Firewall installed on your PC? If not, I suggest that you do so immediatelly, as you have not really given a straightforward yes or no!

    Anyway...........

    1. Disable System Restore.

    2. Update your virus definitions. Do you actually have AV?

    3. Restart the computer in Safe mode.

    4. Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as Trojan.ByteVerify. Also known as Exploit-ByteVerify (McAfee).

After you have done the above, perform an online AV scan, as follows, to be on the safe side: -

  2. Clearing  his Java cache should remove that malware. "Go to Start > Control Panel > Double-Click on Java Icon > Under Temp Internet Files > Settings > go ahead and delete them. That will clear the java cache."

    Byte-verify should now be gone.

His Java is probably out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect a system. To prevent further infections with this trojan, update his Java at the Sun Java website:

    http://www.java.com/en/download/index.js...

Then go to his Add / Remove programs and remove any old versions of Java.
