I have a f2 visa, if I am not in my spouse I20, but I still have an i20, can I get into the country?

I have just gotten a F2 visa for 5 years. I have an I20 that is valid until december/2007. To be able to transfer to a more expensive college, my sponsor needs to take me out of his I20. Can I still get in the USA with my I20 before it expires, even if my spouse does not have me in his update I20?
