  1. I'm happy to hear that you've decided to get an additional rat.  Rats are highly sociable creatures and require a buddy to be psychologically healthy.  You should definitely get another female rat as a male rat will constantly reproduce.  You should leave breeding rats to responsible professionals.

Even if you were to get the male neutered, it is costly and you'll have to take care of him after the surgery.  It seems much more straightforward if you get another girl.

I don't know how long you've had the first girl, but if possible, you should try and get another girl from her litter/cage as they are more likely to get along quickly.  If that is not an option, check out your local humane society.  The cost is about the same but the money will go towards helping other animals and you will give a rat a home.

Another option is a breeder or small, local pet shop.  These rats are more likely to be socialized at a young age and to have less issues than rats you find at large pet store chains.  Most big pet stores basically take feeder rats and throw them in cages to buy as pets.  these are not ideal, as they usually have respiratory problems and are not socialized.

Before you adopt your second rat, make sure you have a spare cage for it to live in.  Rats are very territorial and will fight if you just put a new rat in the old rat's cage.  You're going to need a second set of cage supplies as well until your rats get used to each other.  You have to introduce them in neutral territory like a bathtub and whatnot.  Check out this site on how to properly introduce rats:

    http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/information/...

Lastly, make sure your cage is large enough to house two rats.  Each rat should have about 2 cubic ft of space, and lots of space to climb.  If it is too small, fights will likely break out.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Why would you even consider getting a male?

  3. if you don't want rat babies, i suggest you get a female.

  4. Then definitely get another female unless you want many many rats through reproduction!!

They will be fine, to be sure introduce them to each other slowly. This may require you getting a small temporary cage for the new one. They are community animals.

  5. female

    unless you want more rats

  6. if u want to have babies get a male one if u dont get a female one

  7. ok this is what u should do. rats do not mate as quickly as other rodents so if you want to get a male you can but keep them in separate cages and then they can play together in ur hands or u can just get a female and keep them in the same cage

  8. If you get a female they will probably kill each other because they are very Territorial and if you get a boy you better start asking questions on breeding rats

  9. if you get a male theres definetly going to be babies, if you dont want to have baby rats then you should get a female.

  10. Are you THAT stupid?

  11. hiyyahh

you have a bigger responsiblity b ecause yo0h have olny got 1 yo0u need too look after it even more because if you dont treat like your best friend then it will get lonley

if you have your hert set on getting an other rat them buiy a seprate cage and slowley introduce them

    ellie...xx

  12. i would suggest u male rat

  13. You absolutely should get a female. Rats are gregarious and need at least one companion to be happy. You cannot provide everything your rat needs socially. Do NOT get a male. There is absolutely no reason for you to be breeding them and putting a male into her cage would by default constitute breeding. Then you are going to have dozens of babies to find forever homes for.

  14. Defenitly get another rat! Rats are very social and need companion but unless you want 12 baby rats i would NOT get a male. Another female rat would be best.

Be sure that you do, do research on indroducing rats because you can't just put them together. It's important to indroduce them properly.

    Hope I Helped
