He takes Motrine If he needs it, Which seems to be at night from sore throat when he has issues sleeping from it. (already seen his doctor he goes tomorrow for a recheck.)

My question is when in your opinions is it really necessary for me to take a fever reducer?? Im trying to avoid it as much as i can but at the same time dont wanna be so outta of it i cant take care of my baby.

Any advice is great.

Right now my body just aches. F.y.i + sore throat which isnt unbearable.

  1. You should be taking tylenol every six hours as needed to keep your fever down, it will not harm your baby in any way.  The aches are partly from the virus, partly from the fever.  It takes an unbelievable amount of energy for your body to run a fever, give yourself a break and bring your temp down!!  It also helps to take tepid baths (not hot not cold.)  If you are run down, you can't be the best mommy you can be.  Good luck and get rest!

  2. If you can without thats probably best, but monitor yourselk carefully you don't want it to get so bad you can't take care of your baby

edit our doctor suggested alternating tylenol and motrin so I would think you would be fine.

  3. You can take tylenol and the baby be fine. Hospitals will give babies with high fevers both tylenol and motrin together. I hope you and your little one get better soon!

  4. You and Your baby will be JUST FINE...And it is SAFE to give tylenol and motrin TOGETHER they are NOT the same drug and do not affect each other..and on 2% of what you ingest goes into your milk so it wouldn't be cause for concern anyways...So even if you had given him motrin and you took some tylenol he would have no reaction to the med you took...

    Get Well Soon!!!

"Acetaminophen starts taking effect within 45 to 60 minutes and should last four hours. If it wears- off too soon, then use a dose of Ibuprofen.

For very high or stubborn fevers, alternate between Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen every three hours (i.e., give a dose of acetaminophen then three hours later give ibuprofen then three hours later acetaminophen, etc.) These two medications are safe to use together like this"

It also includes a dosage chart for tylenol and I will give you the motrin one as well so you can have that on hand
