I have a few bag of opened, expired Matchlight charcoal. Is it safe to just throw it in the trash?

  1. If the charcoal is just charcoal, it is safe to put out in the trash.

    However, if this brand contains lighter fluid, then it cannot be put out in the trash—the lighter fluid is a hazardous waste and presents a real danger.

    Instead, you will need to burn it and let the ashes cool completely before disposing of the ashes.

    An even better option would be to give it to a neighbor who can use it. Everybody wins.


  2. people that hang out in this section feel very passionately about charcoal, so before you post an insulting question why dont you read the directions, so dont think im going tell you the answer if you cant be bothered to read the directions.

    So...go bake an apple because i dont think that the politicans would take time to mess with our tomatoes.

  3. I really doubt that it has to be thrown out.  Just use it....its not like its something you'll be eating.
