  1. I got my ferret which i purchased at the pet store, his cage, toys, food, water bottle, treats, tunnels, ect. for 400 dollars. I have a savings account which I keep 1000.00 dollars in at all times for vet cost if i should ever have a emergency. There food really does not seem to cost that much to me maybe like 20 bucks a week? I buy the 8- in 1 ferret food which is one of the best foods for them. I really enjoy my ferrets so the 20 bucks on food a week does not bother me. They really do make wonderfull pets.

    Good Luck!

  2. This is what I post to all of the ferret wanters. I've had 5 ferrets at one time, now I have three. They are costly. Do plenty of research to prepare!

Initial price of ferret and supplies - over $400 - a ferret needs a large cage, so you're looking at $150-$200 on the cage alone. I recommend Super Pet's Ferret Kingdom or the Ferret Nation ($225). The ferret will cost you anywhere from $75-$200. Look into adopting a ferret before you go to the petstore! People decide to get them then they realize they stink and they need to be taken out of the cage daily and they decide to get rid of them. The supplies can be VERY expensive!! Especially food.

Montly supplies - you're looking around $30+ a month. You can buy marshall ferret food at ferret.com for a discounted price - 35 lbs for $48 whereas 7lbs at Petsmart is $25 - you need to buy them lots of playtoys, litter, bedding, vitamin supplements, so around $20-$30

Initial Required Supplies (This is what I have):

Ferret - I've purchased them for $80, adopted the rest

    Cage - $200

Bedding - old towels, or bedding off ebay ($40)

    Food - $48 for 35 lb Marshalls

Water Bottle and Hook - $10

    Food Bowl - $5

Litter - I use Yesterday's News for cats, same as ferret brand - $15 for 30 lbs

    Harness and Leash - $15

    Collar with bell - $5

    Fur-tone - $8

    Furovite - $5

    Marshall Bi-Odor - $32

    Styptic powder - $5

Flea and tick spray - $10

    Ferret shampoo - $5

    Tunnels - $20

    Ball toys - $5

LOTS of treats - raisins, banana chips - but LIMIT them

    Hammocks - they love them! - $10-$20

    Comb and Brush - $8

    Nail clippers - $8

and I'm sure theres a bunch more you need but the list was getting long so I'm stpping :)

Monthly supplies are just what you run out of. Also, they need to be seen by the vet once a year which can be VERY costly. They can develop ADV or Aleutians disease and you're looking at thousands for recovery.

  3. here is a good article on Ferret ownership

    http://www.everythingferret.com/ferret_o...

Next to horses and large livestock, ferrets are probably the most expensive animals I have ever owned.  Besides the initial purchase price and setup, they are prone to so many health problems and it is costly.

Here is a site that breaks down some preliminary costs in a table.

    http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...

Some years will be cheaper but when problems come, and they will, medical costs and extra food to nurse the sick ones is costly.  They say that 70 to 90% of all ferrets over the age of 3 years will develop some form of cancer.  Even when you choose the surgery route, they do not necessarily do well.

    Love them to death though.

  4. It all depends on how much you spend on the ferret. the other stuff is equal to caring for a cat except for the cage. Same shots and meds.

  5. which currency?

ferrets arent the most expensive animals to keep, but your goin to need a massive hutch or cage, special ferret food which is more expensive than the dog or cat dry foods. and the cost of the animal plus netuering, parasite control and shots.

  6. a ferret at a petstore is around 180.00 at a shelter which is the best way is probley 75.00

vet bills is probley gonna be 400 a year if you onlly do check upps and stuff also around probley 200 a month if you ferret gets sick and you probley might wanna spend aleast 300 to make sure they dont have any dieses  and you may wanna get a vet to which is like 100 and probley for a ferret all thoughter for  their lifespan maybe 2000-5000 cause you need food and stuff also vet bills maybe another 1000
