I have a few questions about cruises?

1) how do you know where a ship is registered? is there a way to find out?

2)i heard that that determines the drinking age on the ship; is that true?

1) how do you know where a ship is registered? is there a way to find out?  You can see it on the websites of the cruise line, in their brochures or just by calling them.  They are listed everywhere for the public.

2)i heard that that determines the drinking age on the ship; is that true? That is not true.  This is determined by the coorporate office of that line.  If it is located in the US then most likely you have to be 21.  Holland ships are registered in the Netherlands and Bahamas and you have to be 21.

Your main concern seems to be the drinking age onboard a ship.  They have all standardized to age 21 no matter what registry.   Ships did this because of the ongoing problems with drunk and disorderly passengers that were under 21.  That's not to say that they still don't have problems, but they've reduced the amount and can also prosecute if necessary.

However, you can find the ship's registry at their web-site, in their brochures and the ships registry is always on the back of the ship below the ship's name.  It will fly the flag of the country in which it is registered.

If you want to research cruise lines, go to a search engine and enter the line's name and look at their official site.  Cruise lines I'd recommend are Royal Caribbean, Holland-America, Celebrity, Princess, Oceania, MSC, and Cunard.   I would recommend staying away from Carnival (unless you don't care about the quality of accommodations and food - basically a 24/7 drunk and usually very low budget) and NCL (lots of service and quality issues).

Value lines - Royal Caribbean and MSC

Premium lines - Princess, Holland-America, Celebrity, Oceania, Cunard

Luxury lines - Regent, SilverSea, Crystal, Seabourn, SeaDream

  i don't think so all ships leaving out of the usa are all 21.

  i think you should try cruise line web site get all the info you need there.

The web site for each cruise line will list the country of registry- often under the ships information section.

The drinking age is determined by the port of departure, but cruise lines set a minimum of 18.

Try  http://cruisebrothers.com  ,(or google for more sites) to look up prices then call the phone number and talk to a person. You will still get the same on-line price, although they may have newer and cheaper specials, and you can ask them any questions you might have.

1)well to find out where all sea vessels are registered there is the name of the country where the ship or vessel is registered on the stern of the ship.

2) well the drinking age on i would believe all ships are 21. or maybe lower but it all varies on the cruise line and ship you travel on.

3) i would advise you go to the site directly cause what those sites might be missing the official sites have and maybe you would end up paying a cheaper price from the site directly.

1: If you see a cruseship you could either look att what flag it have in the stern. Its the same as the regestration country. If you get close enough you can see the country or the city under the ships name in the stern Like Seabreze - Nassau. or Symphony - Mariehamn. If you knew what country that city is in you know.

2: Drinking age is usally between 18 and 21. Eccept the higher age.

3: Try the different cruiselines homepages. There you will find a lot of info and also a way to book. Remember to take a hard look on whats included in the prize offered. Is airtravel or taxes included for excample?

I have a few answers:

1) If you go to the cruise line's website it will tell you country of registration.

2) Wrong - if the ship leaves from a US port the drinking age is 21.

3) Do yourself a big favor - go see a professional travel agent that specializes in cruises!  There's no additional charge for their service and they will provide you with personalized service rather than putting your personal data into your pc and hoping for the best!

Ships are registered in various countries and it really has no bearing on the crew or anything else. Basically it is only for tax and registration fee purposes only. The cruiselines will be glad to tell you where their ships are registered. Panama and Lybia and Monrovia are well known places of registry.

No, the cruise lines determine the drinking age and almost all require the age of 21 that sail from the USA, in or out of port.
