ok, first, I found a lump in my right boob yesterday night...do you think it is probably just a milk clump, it was small. Also, I'm 38 weeks and still not leaking any colostrum or anything at all. Is that normal? And 3rd question, my areolas are like really rough, they feel extremely dry, this is one of my major concerns, both my them have like white bumps on them, I figured at first they make just be like milk or something but if you pick at them even a little they fall off I'm afraid when I breastfeed when he sucks they will fall off and swallow these scab looking things. They kind of look like scabs, cause when you pick at them its just pink skin underneath, I never leak or anything. The front part of my nipple (the part where the milk should come out) its extremely extremely rough feeling and looking and feels like sandpaper and has a lot of those white scabby things on them. I'm just concerned that I won't make milk because of the way my b*****s are, with these scabby things that are on them it doesn't seem like the milk will be able to come through or something. Sorry this is my first baby.

  1. I would have your doctor take a look at them. I am not sure that this is normal. I have the white things around my areolas, but they do not come off or anything. My nipple and areolas are very soft actually, but I am only almost 20 weeks. I do not remember them getting rough though with my first pregnancy. I say ask the doc.

  2. with my first i didnt leak at all during the pregnancy but as soon as i had her i did... this time around i started leaking at about 30 weeks...not a lot...and once in a great while.   every pregnancy is gonna be different even your own...dont worry the milk will come if not soon then for sure when the baby is born.  Dry nipples are also extremely normal.... lotion doesnt work for me either....  it will go away

  3. I have leaked before my baby was born and after my baby was born, both are normal, so don't worry about that.

The lump, this I would have your doc check, just to be safe but it may be normal.

The white bumps are normal, the scabbing, not so much.  if you pick at the white bumps, this will cause scabbing, so don't do that.  if the scabbing is coming on it's own then you must tell and show your doc, just incase.  Don't worry about it.  He/she see's b*****s and other regions a million times a week!  They have seen stuff a million more times grosser than you think your b*****s are:)

If you are concerned about producing milk and being able to actually put your nipple in your babies mouth, then you MUST talk to your doc so you will have piece of mind and make a new plan if needed.

    Good luck.

  4. I don't know honestly if it's normal but I am thinking so! I am 37 1/2 weeks and I've had that scabby white stuff on my b***s since about 34 weeks.... I actually picked at a scab looking thing on my areola and it bled so I stopped doing that! I'm sorry I'm not any help in actually answering but I will say that I'm experiencing the same thing, and I haven't been leaking at all either. Congrats- we don't have much longer! :)
