Ok I was talking to this girl from school and she started talking about showing her horses and i had no idea what some of the events were so i researched them and I’m still a little confused. Maybe someone could explain a bit about each one. So anyways line classes? Conformation? Cart? Wall trot?

Thanks a ton!!!!

  1. Lead line classes are for beginners who are not yet able to really ride without another person leading them around.  Usually they are children 8 and under with their parents or a trainer just walking around in the arena.  A conformation class is where the owner or handler walks the horse into the middle of a ring with a bunch of other horses and a judge looks at how well the horses are put together.  Cart classes are where a horse pulls a cart and is judged on things like how well it moves, how calm it is or how lively it is depending on the show, class, and breed.  Walk/trot classes are where the riders go into the arena and only walk and trot and are judged on their equitation (how well they ride).  If you want more information you can to to the American Horse Show Association website, they have information on the different types of classes.

  2. Ok i own two horses and show...

Comfromation is were you stand your horse and the one with the best comformation wins ( straight alinged feet, refined head, well set neck and strong back are all good points)

Cart is simple.. the one with the most control and grace pulling a cart wins. Wall Trot? Some form of dressage

    Erae

  3. Conformation is not only a horse that shows in hand ,, Like a halter classes , some HALTER Class are for their breed to see if they have the proper conformation to qualify to be a a representive of that breed that they are showing !

some have to show over fences and under saddle Hard class to beat

I never heard of a class called a cart class

Under harness is more like it ,,they drive horses with a BUGGY , they do have horses that show under a cart But thats not the proper term ,

Walk  trot is for young horses that are not yet reached to canter in a positive way

Now if you said lead line then its with a handler LEADING A YOUNG RIDER and they walk and trot , Because that rider is to green to show by them selves and or canter yet !

( more of a fun class for young up coming riders )

But I did not see those words

Best thing for you to impress her,,, is Go to a few shows with out her

    and ask questions there ..

And get a program or entry form from them

and that will explain allot to you

Now if you really want to impress her ck out

AMERICAN HORSE SHOW Assoc. OR A.H.S.A.

THEY WILL SEND You everything you need to know about terms and what going on ...

    Good luck Bud
