I am in two minds

On the one hand I think the job would suck big-time - and I mean really, really suck horribly

And then my other side thinks it would be fantastic.

Everyone who is a potential recruit tells me how it is their dream to be a flight attendant and I have heard no bad stories about the job

I can't decide if I would love it or despise it and I have 48 hours to decide whether to buy a new suit and pair of shoes and to fly a ten hour round trip to Atlanta to go to an interview where 90% of the candidates are cut in the first hour

I want some horror stories about people who hated being flight attendants (or people you knew who hated it)

I need someone to talk me out of this idiotic fantasy

  1. GO FOR IT MAN PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE =]

  2. I have been a fa for 7 years. Its a great job if you are single and have no committments. Seeing the world while you work is fun. However, you still have to remember you are on a plane with 100+ people who can be rude and have zero respect for you as a fa.

The first 5 years as an fa were great. The last two, I am ready to hang up my wings.

Oh and the nice uniform, good luck.......

If you have always wanted to do it, I say go for it. That way, you cant regret not trying.

    Good Luck.

  3. Been There, I was not a flight attendant, but was a customer service agent for 22 years. I knew and talked to and saw a lot of flight attendants. Here are some of the things.

The job pays well, is difficult and demanding, and has good benefits. You will be gone from home a lot, and you will have to be time and date oriented. It is NOT EASY! You will sit around in a lot of airports for an hour or a day at a time.  You will not be in the heart of a city, but out near where the aircraft are.

I can almost guarantee that you will NOT BE A HERO in a crash. The odds are very much against you being in a crash.

If I knew how to talk you out of this fantasy easily, I would. But I don't know you well enough to hit your hot buttons. I can tell you that if you are of two minds about this, find some other work before you have only a new suit and pair of shoes and a sore but.

    I wish you well.

  4. man, if knowing you still had it to pass any exams or interview means nothing to you then don't bother going there. I have worked 4 Airlines +1 cargo airline and I trust my instinct and if now it doesn't feel right then when you're in still it won't be right.

On the other hand if by going there you have proven you still had it to still get the job you want. Go ahead man, Get up and do the jerk now.
