  1. well i have a 5 year old mare who i started showing at 3 and training at 3, even if you're not doing  jumping events doing lunging over low poles can be good conditioning and keeping his focus on what you're telling him to do. Trail rides are a great way to have fun and keep your horses muscles toned, i did about a mile trail every time i went riding with my horse, she loved it and so did i. Gymcanah events are fun and good exercise for your horse, just use fun activities for you both and it will make it easier to be relaxed and comfortable when it comes to shows.

If you're also nervous about him spooking use tarps or whips near him and shake them or rub them against him to get used to the noise that will be at shows.

good luck with your season and i hope you and your horse do well !

  2. Horse are delicious. But really whats the point, if you aren't running a ranch the beast is just wasted meat.

  3. When you say condition him , do you mean to get him in shape , if so , then ride him alot , if he is still bucking , then sounds like he needs alot more training before he will be ready to show , if you mean how do you get him ready for showing , again , alot more wet saddle blankets , he needs alot of work , and get someone that knows about horses to help you , that way you will do alot better and not get yourself hurt or your horse frustrated , : )

  4. well i think he needs a little more training before u show him.one thing iu can do when he starts bucking is turn him in a tight circle with one rein to your knee and keep doing that for a min and then start again and if he starts to buck again then do it over and he will finally quit cause he will get tired of being pulled in a circle. I had a pony like that and i did it bout 4 times and he never bucked again. It works great.

Also, what u should do is ride for about an hour every day and make it longer as u go and make sure u keep him in a trot for about 4-5 mins and then do that in a canter for 4-5 mions to get him in shape. the judge will have you trot and canter for about that much whenyour in the ring so its best to have him prepared.

    GOOD LUCk!!
