I have this dog and this cat ok... My dog goes outside to go to the bathroom and comes back inside. There is a fence inbetween my kitten and my dog. My cat has 500x more fleas then my dog! And everytime we give them flea baths it doesn't work! We tried advantics (sp?) and that didn't work. We tried everything! It doesn't work! Then we gave my cat a room for a bit... now its infested with fleas. Step on the rug for 2 seconds and you have 50 baby fleas (from my cat) on your leg!!!!!! Ew!!!

Help!!! I don't know what else to do!!! We don't have money for an extermentator but my house is infested! My cat has fleas all over every centimeter of his body, my dog hardly has any, yet the dog is the one that gets the fleas in the first place.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm scared :(

  1. I have contacted the Bayer company about Advantix at least a dozen times this year. It's my first time trying it and I'm not impressed. They told me it wouldn't really start working until the 2nd month. It does seem to be helping some, but I'm trying other things also.

Treat your house with bug bombs, special made for fleas. They are fairly cheap and most of the time do the job. Make SURE your pets and your family is out of the house at least 8-12 hours or more to let it work. When you return home, air the house out well.

The yard is your breeding ground for fleas. Any time you or your pets go outside you bring more fleas in. There is a natural remedy called diatamaceous earth that I have read works really well. If you can't find that use a product such as Ortho Max. Spray it on your yard and let it dry well before letting your pets outside.

Borax is ok, I have tried it in the past and I'm not sure if it really helped. Make sure your pets are not on the carpet if you decide to use it and it needs to set for at least a 4-6 hours.

As for topical products, I have always had great results with Advantage. You might want to give it a try.

    Good luck!

  2. Get rid of your carpet, wash all of your blankets, flea collars.

  3. Ok, I know lots a bout this kinda stuff.

    1. Fleas LOVE dirty, and uncared for enviroments, WASH EVERYTHING! ( carpet, pet bed, linens, even scrub your walls! etc.

    2. Get those fleas OFF you pets, some fleas can carry VERY BAD!diseases!

    3. Flease start out outside, they especially LOVE yards htat are uncared for, meaning cut you lawn every week, and make sure trees and shrubs don't get too scragly.

If you don't like those fleas on you, imagine what your poor cat is going through, I would suggest spending some good cash( even if it's exspensive) and get an exterminator!!!!!!

I read all this in pro-dog magizines, and took the advice and none of my pets have ever had fleas ^^

  4. this sounds weird but use boric acid in its powder form kills fleas

also if you dont like that option light off a sulfer smudge pot in your

home keeep pets & people away for 8 hrs come back open house up let it air out you will find ell dead bugs fleas & ticks around base of smudge pot these both work well.

This is a bad year for fleas

    Boric Acid is a antibiotic

  5. this is a bad flea year , that is an quote from my vet, my  exterminator and my pet shop owner, alot of the normal flea remedies are not working this year . we have not had fleas in 10 years but we have them this year , front line and advantix have done nothing ,  they vet gave us capstar it work awesome and the exterminator has treated our house , fleas are gone  but the exterminator will come for a follow up treatment in a few days  , also i hear a product called vectra 3d is what is working like a champ this year as well .

  6. As you have already noticed, your cat is not the only thing with flees. Every corner of your house is probably COVERED in them as well, because flees breed like CRAZY. The best thing you can do is probably bug bomb your house a couple of times (don't use more than one over the recomended amount of bug-bombs for your house, or it can literaly blow the windows and doors off of your house.) It is a lot of work to clean your house out afterwords and it may take a few times, but along with flee collars, bathing of your pets, and washing of all of your clothes and bedsheets, bug-bombs are very effective, and inexpensive.

  7. My cat had fleas at one point and gave it to our dog, other two cats and even our rabbits! I know how horrible and disgusting it is to step on the carpet and get fleas all over your leg :(. Anyways, I'm pretty sure we used advantage and that did work for us, but a better brand is "Revolution". It's a bit more expensive, but it also takes care of heart wormm, ear mites, hookworm and roundworm. Another suggestion is getting flea collars in the mean time as well as carpet and furniture spray (you can get big or small bottles from the pet store and they kill fleas and their eggs in the carpets). So, with all of those together you should be able to solve the problem. Also, if your dog is going outside in the spring and summer time the fleas will continue to spread (they live in the grass when it's warm outside). Once you've gotten rid of them all I suggest you don't let your dog mingle outside until the winter. Best of luck!

  8. Raid has a good flea spray that's good for dogs and cats. Go to a feed store or co-op and get a flea bomb for your house. Treat the animals and the house.

  9. you have some choices you could give your cat and your dog a groomer with is alot so that might not work  also you should take every and i mean every thing that  fleas would lay eggs on wash it or just buy the strongest flea removal and emty bottel and fill it until it is half fill and put water in it and spray every thing clothing your bed and other things or u could do one thing but i think u love your cat too to do it........................kill it i know its crazy and it is but i read fleas dont nest in dead bodies the hairs fall apart and the just leave but wear all ruber if u go in the room aslo put a flea coller on it then take it to the vet cause it might have a diaese from the fleas and cut all its hair off all of it.and that should help then give it a nice warm bath with lots so pet shampo, dont let your dog or the cat outside thats could be why they have fleas so i hope this help
