My divorce was final last month (March) and I do have a job in Ashburn, VA. I would like to be in the surrounding area.

  1. go to www.craigslist.org and find out if you can share an apt with someone who has already been checked out by the landlord and whose name is on the lease. Do you have a reference who can vouch for you who you can provide to the landlord? He may want a larger deposit or for someone else to cosign who has good credit.

  2. Most will accept your situation if you can document the circumstance (like a divorce decree). They may however, require a more substantial down payment or security deposit. They may also require a co-signer.

  3. apt mgrs only really care about unlawful detainers and evictions..

you might have to pay a larger deposit though
