Question:

I have a fountain that gets full of mosquito larvae what should i do to get rid of them?

the fountain turns off at night if its a pesticide please be specific

  1. Use a pump that contains a filter. Once the pump turns on in the moring the water begins to get pumped through a filter - it removes the larvae as they are trapped in the filter. You should get a filter that can be rinsed clean in a chemical to kill them. You shouldn't have to clean the filter daily...if it is a lot though you may have to do it weekly for a spell but that too will vary with the environmental changes in your region.

    this way you do not have to poison the water ( think of others that may actually drink from the fountain without your knowledge..children, cats, etc)


  2. there are a number of larvacides that you could use...Mosquito Dunks is one found at Home Depot / Lowes, it contains a strain of Bt that only effect the mosquitoes (and other aquatic flies) n the water source

  3. Pour two cups of chlorine bleach in the fountain then flush it through with a cold water hose.
