  1. Have a soup/stew night!  I love soups and stews when it's cold outside, and there are tons of recipes out there!

  2. Meat loaf with homemade mashed potatos  and a salad you can serve a veg. on the side and thats good  for sandwiches later ,pot roast  with mashed &gravy is always a winner cooked a long time in oven you dont have to do anything but check on it to make sure there is enough liquid in the pan .Shepards Pie is good its ground beef corn with mashed pot.look for the recipe on allrecipes.com .A nice steak with a baked potato & salad with garlic toast is a wnner. A pepper steak with rice you can make that ahead except the rice or a ham or turkey ,meatballs with brown gravy & egg noodles  & a veg.when you make meatballs always mix half pork&half grd.beef they turn out sooo much better.            Good Luck  !   [ its all comfort food for the cold weather .]  Maybe you can make cup cakes together they are so in now  red velvet are the ones to make.

  3. Steam chicken with fresh mushrooms.

  4. make ur own pizza, buy some or make dough, cheese, tomato sauces, meats and veges. great fun with food and friends

  5. You could make theme nights for each day that your friend is there. For example, you could make french food one night (something simple like a cheese fondue with bread cubes and veggies), and watch a French film together, like Amelie. Another night, make Italian food (your lasagna), and watch an Italian film, like Big Night, or the Godfather. Mexican food (tacos?)-- Y Tu Mama Tambien or Like Water For Chocolate... you get the idea. If you wanted to get really creative, you guys could go on a scavenger hunt-- try to find an exhibit at a museum that coincides with your theme, a name on a street sign to snap a photo, or a clothing item at a thrift store that ties in (like a beret for french, just as one example). You could also decorate to make your dining space look the part, and have a fun time taking pictures together, for an album of your stay-in travels. Hang colorful scarves on the walls, throw some pillows on the floor, make some chicken curry, and watch Monsoon Wedding for an Indian theme!

Whatever you guys decide to do, keep the cooking simple, so you have time to spend enjoying each other's company.

    Good luck, and have fun.
