I have a friend whose children go to the same school as my kids, that is how we met.we have known each other now for around two years. In April my friend learned she has high blood pressure. She was prescribed a medication.Recently my friend got upset and seemed more shaken than normal-knowing about her blood pressure I tried to get her to calm down only to have her tell me she has not had her medication. Her husband wasted his pay and now she cannot afford the prescription.I was horrified-I asked her how much it cost,it was around a 25.00 co pay.I asked her to let me buy it for her-she refused.I am very concerned.I asked again yesterday, told her I would buy it,but she says she doesn't want me to have to do it.I am very worried.Should I ask again,is there anything else to do?Any suggestions?

  1. buy her a gift card for the local pharmacy and give it to her as a gift- tell her that you are giving her the card or else throwing it away, and you'd hate to see 25 dollars go to waste.

  2. Maybe you should talk to the doctor about her options.  I mean there are funds for people who can't afford medication like that.  Also maybe take her out for a day on the town just to boost her spirits.  But I also suggest maybe looking out for counselling.
