I have a friend stuck in costa rica with a visitor visa

she here on a student visa but had a visitor visa which counts as fraud i think. The US embassy told them to come back in ten years but she needs to graduate this year cause she is a senior in high school what can i do to speed up the process of her coming back in time for her finished the high school at least

  1. If she has a tourist visa, try leaving Costa Rica for 3 days, then re-enter. At the port of entry, chances are good that she will get a new tourist visa (good for 90 days, if she is a USA citizen).

    If her passport is already stamped "no reentry," or if the border guy won't give another visa, then I recommend contacting ARCR (Association of Residents of Costa Rica). They may be able to help. www.arcr.net. You may need to join, but this may not be necessary. They will want more details.

    Of course, if she can't get a visa on reentry, she is stuck in the other country. Probably want to check w/ ARCR first.


  2. Renew her visa in order to finish her high school.
