Since he is from Australia, he already has his passport and is under the VWP (Visa Waiver Program) so he doesn't need to apply for a visa, he can stay up to 90 days in the US without one.
He would have a round trip ticket, travel insurance and proof of residency and proof of returning to his place of employment.
The question I have is, I've heard from several people that he needs proof of "financial support" and I'm curious as to what a good amount to bring is? He would be staying a few weeks shy of 3 months, and considering he's staying with me he won't need too much spending money, I will be providing meals and whatnot, but from the US Customs point of view, what is a good amount of money to prove financial support to lessen his chances of getting turned away and sent back to Australia?
I've searched far and wide to try and get a round about number, I've even contacted customs and even they say they can't give a number... I'm just trying to take every precaution to make sure there is no problem with customs when he gets here... any help is very greatly appreciated, and any additional information on what he could bring/show to help his chances of getting in to the US with no problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your time.
