I think she has some kind of a problem. She may have had a troubled childhood. She recently lied abt being pregnant. Her lies scare her friends sometimes. Can this be some kind of a disorder?

  1. apparently it can. like compulsive liar or what not. it depends on the lie. like i  had a friend who as making up people, and they were obviously not real, so we just assumed that she was, she would lie about anything.

  2. yes, it can

  3. I've read about this thing called Histrionic Personality Disorder... it's just basically them lying about alotta things and always saying things to bring attention to themselves... I don't know if this could be your friend, but my friend did the same thing alot of the time, and I kinda thought that she might have that...

  4. Actually, it is sociopathic behavior.  Anyone who lies to get attention is saying that they are number one and no one else matters, except for them.

Sociopathic or Antisocial personality disorder: A pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others and inability or unwillingness to conform to what are considered to be the norms of society.

The disorder involves a history of chronic antisocial behavior that begins before the age of 15 and continues into adulthood. The disorder is manifested by a pattern of irresponsible and antisocial behavior as indicated by academic failure, poor job performance, illegal activities, recklessness, and impulsive behavior. Symptoms may include dysphoria, an inability to tolerate boredom, feeling victimized, and a diminished capacity for intimacy.

Antisocial personality disorder, also known as psychopathic personality or sociopathic personality often brings a person into conflict with society as a consequence of a pattern of behavior that is amoral and unethical. Complications that might arise from having this disorder include: frequent imprisonment for unlawful behavior, alcoholism and drug abuse.

  5. She could be a pathological liar.

  6. oh yes. usually it's called "pathological liar". I have had 2 ex-husbands that have told major lies about everything. my first husband once was late coming home and I of course wanted to know why, he said "because there was a rig on the highway that blew up and skidded off the road and I had to pull the guy to safety".. REALLY??? yes...it's completely possible for a person to lie about big and small things. chances are, if she lies now, this will follow her into adulthood if it's gaining her any kind of attention at all and she's unhappy with her life.

  7. Yes it can. But it all depends on the lies she's telling. Are they like, "I flew to the moon and then visited Jupiter"? Usually the lies are really out there, but there are some cases when it hits close to home. Was there a reason she lied about being pregnant? Perhaps she thought that the lie would benefit her. Also, does she lie constantly? Like is there a day when she doesn't lie? It's possible that she could be a pathological liar.

  8. Sounds like she could be a Pathological Liar or has attention-seeking behavior...or both.
