I have a friend who was arrested for child endangerment. but the children services cleared him.?

so why is he being arrested if children services cleared him of any wrong doings. he has been charged with 2 counts of endangerment and felonious assault. just was wondering.

  1. Being cleared by Child Protective Services and being cleared by a Court of law are two entirely different things.  They are like comparing apples to oranges.

    Child Protective Services often intervene when there are allegations, but sometimes there is insufficient information to back up the claim, sometimes parents attend classes that result in the cases being closed, it is a civil matter under most jurisdictions.

    So it is possible that CPS determined something was going on, but rectified the situation through counseling, education or other means, although that may satisfy CPS it won't satisfy the Court if a law was broken.


  2. Child services does not have the authority to clear someone of criminal charges. My guess it was cleared because it is not an ongoing problem, and they are no longer needed to intervene.  

    However, if his previous actions were illegal, he can still be held accountable.
