I have a friend who I honestly think has BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). What should I do about this? This friend would never go in to see a doctor if I asked them to, and they would never admit that they have a problem. What steps should I take? I honestly fear for his health and well-being, both physically and mentally.

  1. Borderlines are difficult to treat.  There is no medication that will have a significant effect on your friend's personality.  Long term psychotherapy with some anti-anxiety medication is usually the treatment of choice.  If your friend goes to the doctor for other health issues, you could call the doctor and explain your concerns and why you believe your friend has this problem.  The doctor will not discuss your friends health history, but may be able to examine your friend the next time s/he has an appointment.  It is hard to see a friend suffer.  Be supportive and as non judgmental as possible.  Good luck.
